Happy Halloween

Some youth groups are creepy and weird.

Ours is not.

Be safe this year and make sure to spread the love of Christ in such a dark time.

You are the difference!

Sunday Night Notes

Hey Guys!

Just an updated from last night.  This week make sure your digging into the Word of God.

JUNIOR HIGH NOTES

Junior High students need to be in the word, reading a chapter a day out of Romans, John, or Hebrews.  When you get to a place in the Bible that you don’t understand, make sure to stop and ask questions.  This will help you grow.
HIGH SCHOOL NOTES

High school students should read Romans 12 once a day for the entire week.  Take one principle out of the text and apply it to your life.  Allow the Holy Spirit to hook you up in the process of becoming a radical Christian!

EVERYBODY!

A couple of other things from last night.

To Know: Romans 12:1 “Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Remember: Before you can become a radical Christian, you must be totally committed to God.

To Grow: Follow the command of God. He knows the plans for you. Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pure.  Focus on the gift from God that gives you life and purpose so that you will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

To Know: Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Remember: Total commitment to God means we must give up control.

To Grow: Refocusing on what God wants, celebrate the victories of God, and stop fighting Him.  He knows the plans He has for you.  This week in times of crisis, problems, or circumstances do not conform to the world.  Hold your ground. Share the love of Christ with those around you. Ask yourself, “What am I trying to control right now that God wants control of?”  God wants to move through you, in order for that to happen, you have to let Him. Don’t fight it.

I’m praying for ya!  Have a great week and don’t be ashamed to open your mouth for Jesus this week!

Remember, No GeNESIS next week!  Happy Labor Day.

September

GeNESIS is up and rolling again for the New Year.  Last night we kicked off building a community that cares by eating melted candy bars, singing at the top of our lungs, and talking about how important it is to open our mouths to talk to others about Jesus.  The night was jam packed with events, activities, and giveaways that rocked the foundation of our building.  If you missed out, you missed out big time.

However,

Don’t cry yourself to sleep just yet because you missed out.  There is still plenty of time for you to get active and involved at GeNESIS.  The September calendar is up under the “calender” page.  Be sure to check that out for all of the sweet events and activities that are planned for this month.

Here’s a few things that you’re not going to want to miss out on in September.

  • 5th Quarter: This is a great chance to bring your friends over to the church after the home football games (High School only).  This month we are going to blast a movie on the outside of the church and get our game faces on for a fierce dodgeball tournament.  The movie night is set for September 11th and we will play dodgeball September 18th.  Be sure to grab 5th quarter cards at GeNESIS to pass out to your friends.
  • Food Fight: Ready to put pudding down your best friends back?  The annual GeNESIS food fight will take place September 20th!  All students Students need to wear clothes that will get ruined and bring a change of clothes to change into for after the fight.  Shampoo will be provided but be sure to bring towel to dry everything off.  Be prepared!  It could get cold.  P.S. Both groups will meet from 6-8 p.m.  All students need to bring in canned goods this month leading up to the fight for the food pantry.  Together we will fight to save hunger!

September is going to be awesome!  Don’t forget that we also have GeNESIS meeting at regular times on the 13th and 27th along with the Deeper Bible study meeting every Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. (high school only) in my office at the church.

See you soon!

Retreat Recap!

Some random facts about the Retreat 2009

  • Severe storms woke everyone at 4:30 in the morning Thursday.  We survived 80 mile an hour winds, trees falling down everywhere, and lighting that didn’t stop.
  • Due to the storm, our power was out almost all day Thursday.  No showers, no toilets, and no electricity.  Regardless, we managed to “session” every time without all the luxuries of the world.  Imagine that.
  • Friday night we regained power through out the entire camp.  Students got showers, staff rejoiced!
  • After Friday night was over, 4 students made decisions to follow Jesus Christ and a massive amount of students got right with Jesus through heart change.
  • Regardless of all the “problems”, the Word got preached every time.  The spiritual disciples were encountered and implemented and we came together to redefine who we are in the body of Christ.  I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

What an awesome week!  If you weren’t there, you missed out big time!
