WEEKLY EVENTS:
Genesis: Sunday, night: J.V. - 5:30-7 pm, High School 7:30-9 pm in the Highland Community Church Basement (2307 Broadway Highland, IL).
Emphasis: community and common growth
Activities: worship music, Bible teaching, interactive games, and food!
Information: Genesis is our weekly gatherings aimed to build up our relationship we have with Jesus Christ. We also use this time to build lasting and meaningful friendships in a positive community. Students are encouraged to bring new friends on Sunday night.
Sunday School: Sunday Morning - 10:30-11:30 am
Emphasis: Bible teaching and peer discussions
Activities: Both junior high and senior high students are encouraged to participate in guided Bible study and topical discussions with individuals who attend. Classes are divided by grades and meet as follows:
* 7th & 8th students- Genesis Room (basement)
* 9th through 12th grade - Room (upstairs)
Deeper – Wednesday Nights, 7-8 pm
Emphasis: Core Bible teaching and leadership development
Activities: High school students who desire to go deeper than Sunday night are encouraged to participate in this guided Bible study that goes “deeper” into the messages on Sunday night. Students who go deeper will learn how to lead biblically and effectively to their peers in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
Phat Sunday - Special Sunday’s of the month TBA. This is for all students at an allotted time.
Emphasis: community and spiritual growth
Activities: Time at Phat Sunday is spent in one community worshiping and praising God through song, games, media, and other special events.
Retreats & Lock-Ins
Emphasis: evangelism, fellowship, growth
Activities: Anything is possible! We often schedule lock-ins and other events throughout the year. We schedule a spring and fall retreat for helping our students bond as well as our biggest annual Winter Youth Retreat (Pigeon Forge Student Celebration Conference is in December), which you do not want to miss! Other camps are a leadership retreat for staff and more.
Service Projects
Emphasis: local outreach and exposure
Activities: visitation, physical labor, raising awareness
We actively serve in the community and out of church to demonstrate our concern and God’s love to the needy. These activities may include visiting food pantries, lawn work, serving the church, others outside the church, and other projects that we see a need to accomplish.
Mission Projects
Emphasis: cross-cultural outreach and follow-up ministry
Activities: While these mission trips are in the early stages of development, our goal is to see our young people participating in gospel presentations and evangelism.
