Hey everyone! I wanted to post some important information regarding the events and activities scheduled for the GeNESIS group in January.
GeNESIS Group Meetings.
- January 4th – Our first night back as a group! Expect to have a great time playing games, singing worship songs, and breaking into the first part of our new study on the book of Daniel.
- January 11th – Plan on dressing warm on this night. We will be outside for a good chunk of the night at a “special place” in town. (It’s a secret where we are going so please don’t ask. If I told you where we were going I would have to kill you and that’s just not a nice thing to do to someone now is it?)
- January 18th and 25th – We will be resuming regular GeNESIS meetings with some crazy nights of games, worship, and our study on Daniel.
Deeper Bible Study.
- This month (and maybe next) we will be studying the book of James as a group on Wednesday evening. Deeper will meet in Jordan’s office at church (it’s the one room in the middle of the church, you can’t miss it) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This study is only for high school youth only.
Other Events…
This month we will be taking our Juniors and Seniors in High School on a Christian college trip. The information for this trip is as follows.

- What: A Christian College trip to with The Difference youth group in Monmouth, IL
- When: January 19th through the 21st (NOTE: Your student will have to miss school, see below for info)
- Where: Ceaderville University, Grace College, Cornerstone University, and Moody Bible Institute
- How Much: $75 (What a Deal!).
NOTES TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS: Since we will be attending colleges, the best time to visit is during the week. By visiting during the week, the student coming on campus has the opportunity to attend classes, chapel, and other events that are taking place on campus.
It has come to our attention that some parents have a few reservations in letting their student visit schools due the absence of missing classes at home (you, as a parent, will have to call the school to excuse your student). While this is understandable, the students also are uneasy due to the possible inability to get out of finals (as some students desperately want to do. I can fully understand!).
HOWEVER, each student at the high school is allowed to miss two (2) days with an excused absence (visiting colleges counts as an excused absence) and still be able be excused from taking finals if they are passing the class. In addition to missing two days of excused school, a student can also miss up to four (4) days, of excused absences, and still be excused from taking finals in they have an A in all their classes. The work against your student attending the college trip is great. However, the benefits of attending a Christian college are priceless. We would love to see as many students as we can attend this trip. Please see Jordan for more information regarding this activity.
